Part 1 – How to get started creating your own video content

As the great social media mogul, Gary Vaynerchuk says, “Content is King!” (although the term was originally coined by Microsoft founder, Bill Gates from an essay he wrote in 1996).

If you are thinking of creating your own video content, then the following information and advice will help you on your way so that you can create great video content.

What does “Content is King” mean?

This term refers to the fact that great content is one of the best ways to communicate with and attract your target audience.  The term highlights that it is the core material of your content which is the foundation that matters over glossy presentation.

It also refers most commonly to content which is valuable to your viewer.  Information or opinion which helps to answer a question they don’t have the answer to.  If you soothe your potential client’s ‘pain’ you have a fan straight away.

The kind of content which provides the best results is content that either inspires, educates, entertains, or even possesses all three of these qualities at once.  The key is to create your output around subject matter which is relevant to your target audience and engages them.

How does this apply to video?

Video is widely accepted as the most engaging form of digital content.  It has a wonderful ability to convey personality, information and an immediate ‘human’ connection.  It is also very adaptable, shareable and is given preference by search engines and platforms such as LinkedIn.  Therefore, video is usually the ideal way to deliver your great content.

It can be tempting to buy the latest video kit and think that this will lead directly to great results.  However, it is the message or story within your video and how this message or story is delivered which is of most importance.  How many times have huge blockbusters, costing millions, failed to entertain as much as a lower budget film with a great story.

Video can also provide a strong element of authenticity and transparency.  People buy from people and the immediacy of video and helps you to develop relationships with your audience quicker.  The better your audience feels they know and trust you, the more likely they are to use your services over the competition.
